"Pride" is a powerful water colored, signed limited edition 12x16 (width x height) giclée print by Rev. Dr. Harrison E. Benton Jr. The original was completed in 1976.
Unfortunately, the original of “Pride” was stolen from Dr. Benton at a public exhibition in the ‘70s. The incident garnered local media coverage but was never recovered. It has been illegally duplicated and distributed for several decades now. Thankfully, Dr. Benton had already professionally captured the piece in a photograph and had prints made.
“Pride,” in this sense, is not a self-righteous kind of pride. Dr. Benton was commissioned to craft this illustration, depicting the strength and beauty of black women — an often disrespected people group.
